Mission
EFAM is a project of Esphera which creates liberation through food, medicine and media. EFAM recovers, transforms, and distributes food surplus and natural medicines and provides education and support to unhoused, formerly incarcerated, low income and indigenous communities to further the regeneration of people and land.
We steward the process of detox, recovery and growth with Ancestral Medicines.
Our global network offers handmade wares that support the work of EFAM and the communities they come from.
We are a collective of community organizers, activists, local farmers, gardeners, health and wellness workers, nutritionists, culinary artists, herbalists, and healers committed to bringing essential food and medicines to all.
Our network reaches the housed and unhoused, the rural and the urban, and travels from the soil to the soul. Whether on the Rez or the hood of West Oakland, EFAM redefines what it means to be in relationship to the land we live on and in community with one another.
In an increasingly marginalized world where the lists of what divides us seem longer than that which brings us together, our work builds bridges across race, class, gender, and political lines.
Given the emotional, physical, and financial upheaval of our world today we see this as an opportunity to invite alternatives that provide health and well-being to oneself and others.
